Remittances are playing an increasingly large role in the economies of developing countries like Nepal. According to the Migration and Remittances factbook published by the World Bank, remittances equalled 22.9 percent of Nepal’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) placing it fifth among countries receiving the most remittances in 2010.
